Puntarenas Shore Excursions from Puerto Caldera
Cruise shore excursions with on-time return planned around your ship schedule. Crocodile safari, Carara National Park and Puntarenas city experiences from $87.
On-time return to your ship
Pacific Sun Travel is based in Esparza — the same canton as the Puerto Caldera cruise terminal. That proximity is the practical reason we can build shore days around your all-aboard time instead of a distant base in San José.
Share your cruise ship name and sail time when you book. We plan the day so you are back at the pier with margin — not racing the clock from the Central Valley.

Where we meet you at Puerto Caldera
Pickup is arranged for cruise passengers docking at Puerto Caldera. The port area does not allow free walking outside the terminal; we coordinate the exact meeting spot with you after booking.
We operate from Esparza, minutes from the pier — not a long transfer from another province. Exact meeting instructions are confirmed by WhatsApp once your ship and date are locked.
What to bring on a shore day
- · Ship ID / passport and your all-aboard time written down
- · Comfortable closed shoes for trails or uneven ground
- · Light clothing, sun protection, and insect repellent
- · Cash in small bills for tips or souvenirs (USD and colones are both common)
- · A rain layer in green season (May–November)
Tour-specific packing lists (canopy weight limits, swimwear, etc.) will appear on each tour page once confirmed with the operator.
Shore excursion FAQs
We are based in Esparza — the same canton as the Puerto Caldera cruise terminal — so transfers are shorter than operators coming from San José or Jacó. Our shore excursions are built around your ship’s dock and sail times; when you book, share your cruise ship name and all-aboard time so we can lock the schedule.
